Kalkee’s Blue Ribbon Raceway will return to life on the 27th of December when
Horsham Motor Sports Club will commence its race season.

The evening will feature the third round of the V8 AMCA Action Series, which has been hotly contested with the podium being shared by Dean Heseltine of Lancefield and Jamie Collins of Geelong winning the previous two rounds respectively.

The AMCA Sedans have had a significant review of their rulebook during the off-season, which has allowed better performance parts including a new 350 cubic inch V8. It will be interesting to see how cars with the new engine compare with those that have opted to stick with the older engine during the phase in period. It is expected that at least 15 cars will go to battle over three heat races, which will decide the starting positions for the final race.

The Three Litre Sedans will also feature on the night with drivers across the state coming to race against Horsham’s best. Natimuk driver, Mark Both has spent the off season building a new race engine for his car and is sure to be quick. His partner, Jade Olds will also be pulling on the race suit for the first time, steering the same car in the Ladies category.

A full field of support classes is also on the bill, which includes Street Stocks, V8 Trucks, ASCF Open Sedans, ASCF Ladies and Limited Sportsman.

The V8 Trucks return to the track, also with a new truck and a new driver.
Wes Bell returns with his new Dodge V8 powered truck which debuted at the June long weekend meeting. The teething issues have been sorted out during the off-season and he will be force to be reckoned with.
Newcomer, Tim Driller of Kewell will take over the reins of Wes’ Chrysler powered V8 Truck.

Local Street Stocks have a new driver and a new car. Jamie Collins of Horsham has been building a new Nissan Skyline race car and will debut it on the night.
Emma Bansemer is also building a new Street Stock after her old car sustained too much damage to repair, after her efforts at the South Australia Championship earlier in the month.

Two new Modified Production sedans will feature in the ASCF Open Sedan races.
Horsham driver, Micka Hayden has built a new Commodore in the last twelve months and is looking forward to competing in the faster category. Daniel Simpson, also of Horsham has also built a new Modified Production. He was plagued with bad luck last season and hopefully a new car will bring him better luck.

Limited Sportsman cars are planning for a big field of cars with many new cars being built in the off-season. Jock Baker has returned to the class in his newly built car. He debuted the car at Hamilton earlier in December and won the feature race even with the engine not performing. Two new drivers from Minyip Heath Talbot and Jayden Johnson also have new cars.
The class also has a new young driver. Lahlan Baker, 16 of Horsham is the grandson of Kevin Baker who retired from racing earlier this year after a 47 year career. Kevin and Lachlan have been racing to get his car together for the December race meeting.

As a bonus, Horsham Motor Sports Club have secured a field of Vintage Heavy Hot-rods for some ‘spirited racing’. The vintage class also has a new face, Club member Mark Cowin of Beulah has joined the class with his Yellow Dodge powered Ford Coupe Hot-rod.

Gates will open at 5.30pm, with the action to start at 6.30pm.
Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for pensioners and $10 for students.
Children under 12 get in for free.
