Blue Ribbon Raceway’s annual Street Stock 1000 is set to attract a big field of drivers from across Victoria and South Australia on Saturday night.

The feature races locked in for the Kalkee track’s second meet of the year will be hotly contested and full of impressive racing that will keep fans entertained during the night.

Drivers will dual it out in three heat races during the night which will decided their starting positions in the feature race final later in the evening.

Penola’s Mark Gartner has won the event three times and will be back looking to claim the trophy once again. He will not get it easily with talented local drivers Kathryn Jackson, Warracknabeal, and Luke James, Horsham, both in serious contention to chalk up the win.

Reigning NSW Champion Mark Jennings from Mt Gambier will be another one to watch. He has been very fast all season long in his late model Falcon and is ready to take the challenge to a competitive field.

A thirty-five lap final will decided who ultimately is crowned the winner of the night’s main feature race.

The second feature on Saturday night will see Victorian Sprint Council Formula racers take over the track. The relatively new class allows Formula 500 and Micro Sprint cars to race alongside and against one another.

The VSC formula racecars have the appearance of small sprintcars and are powered by a 500cc four-stroke motorcycle engine. A very-light chassis makes for an incredible power to weight ratio for the cars that has them reaching high speeds despite the size of the engine.

They are one of the fastest racecars on the speedway track and come in only only milliseconds behind sprintcars

The V8 Trucks return to Blue Ribbon Raceway to support the evening along with Limited Sportsman and ASCF Ladies.

Gates open at 5:30pm with the green light set to start racing action at 6:30pm.

Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for pensioners and $10 for students with children under 12 getting into the raceway for free.
