Blue Ribbon Raceway opened for the first night of racing for the season on Sunday. A large crowd of about 550 people attended the Kalkee speedway to witness the third round of AMCA Action Series.
AMCA racing was contested across two heats, which decided the starting positions for the final race.
Kalkee’s Blue Ribbon Raceway will return to life on the 27th of December when
Horsham Motor Sports Club will commence its race season.
The evening will feature the third round of the V8 AMCA Action Series, which has been hotly contested with the podium being shared by Dean Heseltine of Lancefield and Jamie Collins of Geelong winning the previous two rounds respectively.
On Saturday, 11th of July the Horsham Motor Sports Club celebrated another successful year of speedway, at the Kalkee Football Club Function Rooms.
Three Litre Sedan driver, Steve Ellis won the Drivers Championship award after a consistent and successful season. Steve was also awarded champion of the Three Litre Sedan division.
The Queen’s Birthday weekend Speedway Carnival at Blue Ribbon Raceway began on Saturday afternoon, but not without earlier concern of drizzle for Horsham Motor Sports Club officials. Although the weather passed by midday the track surface was very greasy. The program featuring 82 races over the weekend was re-shuffled, 33 Wingless Sprint Cars were then the first to race in an attempt to dry out the track aided by their large race tyres.
A big weekend of speedway is planned for Kalkee’s Blue Ribbon Raceway this weekend. The annual speedway carnival will be conducted Saturday and Sunday with over 100 drivers from across Victoria and South Australia racing.
The Wingless Sprint Cars have become a regular event at the carnival and will provide some action packed racing with 31 drivers nominated for the weekend.
