After a ‘stalled start’ to the year, Horsham Motor Sports Club will turn on the track lights this Saturday night to host Round 7 of the Spintcar Allstars.
Sprintcar driver Brenton Farrer of Kilmore currently leads the championship. He has been constantly racing well through out the season. After a feature race win in the second round, he has performed well collecting another 3 second positions so far.
Only 3 points separate the top two in Championship positions. Melbourne driver, Chris Soloman will also be one to watch. Throughout the season he has done well in his heat races and will be looking forward to bettering that with some success in the feature race on Saturday night.
Adelaide driver, Trigga Gates sits in third on the championship tally and a good night at Blue Ribbon Raceway could see him closer to the top spot.
Also featuring on Saturday night will be Limited Sportsman.
Thirteen drivers from across Victoria and South Australia will come do contest the Annual ‘Les McMaster Memorial’ race for Limited Sportsman. Horsham club member Mark McDonald has been very consistent this season winning several feature races. Pimpinio driver and current Victorian champion, Jock Baker will return to his home track in a brand new race car. Jock has been extremely busy building the new car, since a horrific accident last season destroyed his previous car.
Six ‘V8 Trucks’ will feature in the ‘Robin Thomas Memorial’, which is named after a much loved and valued former club member who passed away several years ago. The club holds the annual race in his name as he was an ambassador for the V8 Truck class and an irreplaceable club member. Robin’s son Dean Thomas of Murra Warra will be racing hard in hope to claim the perpetual trophy that Horsham driver, Luke James has claimed for the last two years.
Supporting the night’s racing will be Street Stock Sedans, ASCF Open Sedans and ASCF Ladies, which will compete in heat races throughout the evening.
Gates at the speedway open at 5.30pm, with the action to start at 6.30pm.
Admission is $25 for adults, $20 for pensioners and $15 for students. Children under 12 get in for free.
